Earlier today, I walked past my 16-year-old’s room and heard Alexa playing ‘All Cried Out.’ The fan was on, but the room was empty. On her desk, a page fluttered in the breeze. As I looked closer, I noticed her handwriting:

I wasn’t sure what to think at first, but I felt an overwhelming sense of pride in who she had become. I know what she meant by ‘Loss.’ Losing her dad was the hardest thing she has ever faced, even more so than her medical challenges. It’s been five years, and she’s cried at every new experience and milestone, wishing he were here to share them.
Seeing her six-word memoir made me pause and reflect on how incredibly strong and powerful her mind is. Despite everything, she continues to move forward with hope and resilience.
This moment reminded me that strength isn’t just about enduring; it’s about believing in the impossible and pushing forward, even when the road is tough. I’m endlessly proud of her journey and the person she’s becoming. It’s a powerful reminder of the resilience we all have within us to overcome challenges and achieve the impossible.
